I want a Birkin!

The Birkin bag was designed in 1984 by French fashion house Hermès. The Birkin was allegedly created after the company's CEO Jean Louis Dumas sat next to the Jane Birkin (actress) on a Paris to London flight. It is seen as a fashion classic and the world's most impossible to get handbag.
Each Birkin bag is handmade by one craftsman in France.
It is said that Victoria Beckham owns more than 100 of this bags. Jus a few of them:

If you can't afford one, don't worry there are plenty of brands that have created similar models:

Wear a white ribbon

Today it is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

In December 1999, the 54th session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 54/134 declaring November 25th the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. origins of November 25th go back to 1960, when the three Mirabal sisters from the Dominican Republic were violently assassinated for their political activism. The sisters, known as the "Unforgettable Butterflies", became a symbol of the crisis of violence against women in Latin America. November 25th was the date chosen to commemorate their lives and promote global recognition of gender violence.

My name is Kimbo

This is the add campaign that Unicef has launch in Spain to help to spread Unicef message.

Did you know that with 25$ Unicef can provide immunization to protect a child for life against the six leading child diseases: measles, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus and tuberculosis.
With  $100 you can provide a basic family water kit for ten households, with detergent, soap, wash basin, towels, bucket and water purification tablets. Or with $250 you can provide one "School-in-a-Box" kit containing basic education supplies for 80 children during times of crisis.

In Unicef website you can find gifts and postcards. Is there any better way than wish a merry Christmas with these postcards?

We all can help and it is really easy;  spread the message and donate.

Couturier of couturiers

I am here again. Finally! I have been really busy lately and haven't been able to post anything. The only free time I had on weekends I spending it traveling a little bit to places I wanted to visit since some time ago.

I've came up with a lots of topics to talk about but I decided that I should talk about Balenciaga.

First, I would like to show you a new book that has been launch in Spain, which talks about the beginnings of Balenciaga in the fashion industry, how he build up his reputation among the Spanish nobility and how he arrived to Paris. I definitely recommend this book to those who are interested to have a closer view of how the Balenciaga house was created.
The book is called Cristóbal Balenciaga; la forja del maestro (1895 - 1936). It has been written by Miren Arzalluz and it has been published in Spanish and French.
You can buy it at http://www.nerea.net/

Balenciaga was know as the couturier of couturiers. He changed women's silhouettes and the meaning of elegancy. These are some of his astonishing creations:

Nowadays, Balenciaga house has nothing to do with the initial Balenciaga's style.
Just judge by yourself:

Spring - Summer 2011

Aquí estoy de nuevo! He estado muy ocupada últimamente y no he tenido tiempo para añadir nada.

Barbara Streisand

Follow my blog with bloglovin

Today I heard a new song in the radio that I really like and at the same time I picture an image that I saw a couple of days ago on the newspaper; Barbara Streisand walking without shoes in Madrid. Isn't it crazy?

(Her husband is carrying her shoes)

I love this song. It is so easy to remember the lyrics.

Have a nice weekend! :)

Warm and comfy

It seems that autumn is leaving us and I just remembered how warm and comfy were my Uggs boots. They are like slippers you can wear anywhere!

This season Jimmy Choo has created 6 exclusive models for Uggs. They are a little bit expensive but some of them are really cool.

These two are the ones that I like the most:

Mango & Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo and his boyfriend Johannes Huelb introduce us Mango's winter collection.
For thoses who don't know who Olivia is, she is the it girl of the moment in the New York social scene.
Do you like the photos?
I think she doesn't look sexy. She looks sad and very pale. Her eyes look lifeless and there is no chemestry with his boyfriend.Did you notice that she puts the same face expression in each photo? I'm so sorry but modeling is not her forte.

By the way, I really like the asymmetrical purple sequined dress and burgundy dress with a knotted neckline. You can shop all them online at http://www.shop.mango.com/
